TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - North Jakarta Mayor Ali Maulana Halim said Pertamina would pay for the cost of rented houses for residents affected by the fire at the Plumpang fuel depot who were still in evacuation tents.

"[That would be borne by] Pertamina, inshallah," said Ali when met at Jakarta City Hall Friday, March 10.

He said that the rented house would be given to residents to live in for three months, denying the saying that it would be extended to three years for those affected by the fire incident. "No, there’s no such information," said Ali who did not detail the location of the houses.

“It’s spread near the location (Pertamina Plumpang Depot),” he added.

Previously, the chief of the Rawa Badak area, Suhaena, stated that the government would facilitate the victims of the Plumpang Depot fire in the Rawa Badak Selatan neighborhood in Koja, North Jakarta, with rented housing for some time.

"If the budget is sufficient, the victims who truly lost their homes can possibly be given rented houses for three years, but for now, the budget is for three months. That’s the plan,” Suhaena told reporters in North Jakarta, Tuesday, March 7.

To support the plan, the officials are collecting data on the houses that were severely damaged for the next two days. Currently, there are 20 families that would be facilitated with the rented houses.

The criteria are that the houses are highly damaged due to the Pertamina Plumpang Depot fire so it is impossible to live inside.
