TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta areas hit by floods expanded from 82 neighborhood units (RT) to 104 RT as of 13:00 hours local time. The Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) also reported that the number of roads inundated by floodwater also increased from two to five locations.

"Jakarta BPBD appeals to the public to remain vigilant and alert to potential flooding," said the agency's head of data and information center Moh Insaf, in a written statement on Monday, February 27, 2023.

Insaf explained that most floods occurred in East Jakarta (57 RT), followed by West Jakarta (28 RT) and South Jakarta (19 RT). The water level ranges between 20-180 centimeters. According to him, the flood was caused by heavy rainfall and the overflow of several rivers.

The five inundated roads were as follows:

1. Jalan Pelita in Lubang Buya, Cipayung District, East Jakarta, at 20 centimeters high.

2. Jalan Raya Cakung Cilincing, West Cakung, or precisely at PT. Home Sakti Indonesia at 10 centimeters high.

3. Jalan Sungai Begog, Semper Timur, Cilincing District, North Jakarta at 30 centimeters high.

4. Jalan Sakti VII (SDN 02 Pagi), Petukangan Selatan, South Jakarta at 30 centimeters high.

5. Green Garden Housing RW 04 (in front of McD), Kedoya Utara, West Jakarta at 20 centimeters high.

A number of residents were evacuated due to the Jakarta floods. As many as 25 families of 93 people of Kedaung Kali Angke stayed temporarily at Al Fudhola Mosque and 57 other families of 80 took refuge at the At Taubah Mosque. Additionally, 31 families of 72 residents of Kedoya Utara were evacuated to Al Hidayah Mosque.
