TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Pollster Charta Politika Indonesia in its latest survey announced in a press conference on Tuesday said that Indonesia’s law enforcement has scored below average.

According to the survey, 55.9 percent of correspondents stated that the current state of law enforcement is acceptable. 50.2 percent said it was acceptable and 5.7 percent said it was very acceptable.

"And if we look at the trend, this has also improved compared to the figure for September 2022 (which was only 50 percent)," said Executive Director of Charta Politika Indonesia Yunarto Wijaya during an online press conference, Tuesday, November 29.

Yunarto explained that the level of satisfaction with legal handling, which was 50 percent, was due to the policy that sees an increase in fuel prices. Although not directly correlated, Yunarto said that shocks in the economy had a domino effect on other sectors

The increase in satisfaction with law enforcement is also due to public satisfaction with the government’s handling of inflation.

"Then on November 2022, it increased to 56 percent, a number that can be considered as an improvement. Even if we use the benchmark of 60 percent, it can be said that it still tends to be [below expectations], which can be said to be above the psychological threshold," said Yunarto.

Meanwhile, for public satisfaction with the investigation of corruption cases in Indonesia, the survey showed 58 percent deemed it to be good, consisting of 53.1 percent saying it was acceptable and 4.8 percent saying it was very much above acceptable. Yunarto said that this aspect saw a slight increase compared to the previous score of 54 percent.

The Charta Politika Indonesia Survey was held from 4-12 November 2022 involving 1,220 correspondents using a random sampling method. This survey has a claimed margin of error of 2.83 percent.
