TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Mayor of Solo, who is also President Joko Widodo or Jokowi’s eldest son Gibran Rakabuming Raka, did not comment too much as he was presented with the details of a survey that positioned himself as the most popular candidate for the Central Java gubernatorial election.
Gibran logged a 77 percent popularity in a survey conducted by Parameter Politik Indonesia (PPI). He was surprised as the results were read out to him by journalists at the Solo City Hall on June 23.
“Who’s number one? Dico? Congratulations Dico,” said Gibran to journalists but when confirmed he topped the list he was more critical, “Oh, is it me? Who’s [the pollster]? Is it PPI?”
In response, he half-jokingly denied the results and asserted that he always ends up as the third most popular instead of topping the list.
“That’s not possible. I am always in third. You're trying to fish [something out of me],” said the mayor as he chuckled.
Asked what future plans would hold for the son of President Jokowi, Gibran claims he has prepared nothing and does not dwell on political survey results.
The Parameter Politik Indonesia (PPI) released a public opinion survey that stated that the popularity of Solo Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka was in the highest position in the Central Java gubernatorial election, reaching 77.0 percent.
