TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) hinted on Thursday, July 16, 2020, that it will officially endorse Gibran Rakabuming and Teguh Prakosa for the 2020 Solo mayor election (Pilkada).
Gibran Rakabuming is the eldest son of incumbent President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo while Teguh Prakosa is a senior PDIP cadre who previously took the position as the region's Legislative Council (DPRD) member from 2014 to 2019.
FX Hadi Rudyatmo, head of the region's PDIP branch, confirmed the news in a recommendation letter, which Tempo managed to get a copy.
"Yes, the statement in the letter confirms that it came from Pak Rudyatmo, which means it is 100 percent [credible]. Clearly Gibran Rakabuming and Teguh will be endorsed," said the Solo PDIP branch treasurer Joni Sofyan Erwandi to Tempo on Thursday, July 16, 2020.
Moreover, PDIP will officially announce the candidates for the 2020 Solo mayoral election on Friday, July 17, 2020.
