TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo called on all political parties to compete fairly in the 2024 general elections. The statement was conveyed when attending the Perindo Party's 8th Anniversary Celebration at JCH, Central Jakarta, Monday, November 7, 2022.

Gerindra Party chair Prabowo Subianto, PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto, PAN Secretary General Eddy Soeparno, Golkar Secretary General Lodewijck F. Paulus, and PPP General Chair Mardiono were also present.

"[We are] entering the political year and what we have to do is maintain the competition, the rivalry between parties healthy. Don't bring each other down," said Jokowi.

Instead of creating statements that bring each other down, he advised party cadres to compliment each other. He opined that this will create peaceful political conditions.

"If possible, compliment each other, politicians praise each other, parties compliment each other, so people will also be happy listening to it,” said Jokowi.
