TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - South Jakarta has flooded again following heavy rainfall on Thursday afternoon, October 6. In North Cipete, some neighborhoods are soaked up in floods of up to 1.2 meters.

To mitigate the flooding, the Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) mobilized dozens of personnel and used pumps to suck out the flood water. BPBD Jakarta acting chief, Isnawa Adji, said on Thursday that three neighborhoods or (RT) in North Cipete are inundated with water levels reaching up to 1.2 meters.

The area was flooded after heavy rains flushed parts of Jakarta until 16:00.

In addition to North Cipete, flood suction was also carried out in one RT in Pondok Pinang Village and one RT in West Pejaten, where the flood water level reached 40-50 centimeters.

Up to 30 cm of flood also inundated seven roads in the capital city as of 16:00, including the TB Simatupang Road in Cilandak, Pejaten Raya Road in West Pejaten, and the Karang Tengah Main Road in Lebak Bulus.

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency or BMKG had predicted that moderate to heavy rains will wash through most of Jakarta from October 2-8. On Tuesday, several areas in Jakarta were also flooded following a heavy downpour sometime after midday.
