TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The management of Holywings bar has received the first written warning for its latest promotion, stated the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Disparekraf). As reported earlier, the renowned nightclub offered free alcoholic drinks to people whose names Muhammad and Maria.
“We gave the first written warning to the management of Holywings,” said the Head of Supervision and Control Section at Jakarta Disparekraf, Iffan, as quoted from Antara on Friday, June 24, 2022.
The written warning, he explained, contained an order that the bar management must uphold norms, both religious, moral, and other norms that do not offend ethnicity, religion, race, and societal groups (SARA).
Iffan reiterated that the warning was not only given to one outlet, but also to the managements representing all branches of the cafe. If Holywings commits a similar violation, the agency will impose stricter sanctions up to a temporary suspension of permits.
“A second written warning, a third written warning, until the revocation of permits or temporary suspension,” Iffan emphasized.
The promotion of Holywings about free alcoholic beverages every Thursday for visitors named Muhammad and Maria made the rounds on social media and drew public controversies.
Lawyer Sunan Kalijaga and the Indonesian Young Advocate Association filed a complaint to the Jakarta Metro Police, alleging that Holywings committed blasphemy and offended both Muslim and Christian communities.
Jakarta Metro Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Endra Zulpan confirmed today, June 24, that the police had received the report of alleged blasphemy.
