TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung on Wednesday said the recent cooking oil price hike and energy crisis were among the issues prompting President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo to carry out a Cabinet reshuffle.

"The bulk cooking oil, energy, and food problems are the priorities, that's why the Cabinet needed to be refreshed," Pramono said prior to the inauguration of a number of state ministers at the Merdeka Palace on June 15.

The President officially replaced Muhammad Lutfi with PAN chairperson Zulkifli Hasan as Trade Minister. According to Pramono, Lutfi’s replacement is hoped to overcome the current cooking oil fiasco in the country.

In addition, Pramono explained that with eight years of experience serving as president, Jokowi is considered to be able to understand the existing problems and how to overcome them. He also ensured that the ministers and deputy ministers who were sworn in today have the capability and capacity to solve the problems.

The PDIP politician said the cabinet would be able to move more swiftly with the reshuffle.

"It isn't just a matter of the Ministry of Trade, because today, the food issue, [and] inflation are also the world's problems. So, a refreshment is needed," Jokowi remarked.

President Jokowi today inaugurated former TNI Commander Hadi Tjahjanto as the Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency, replacing Sofyan Djalil.

In addition, the president inaugurated Raja Juli Antoni as Deputy Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning, John Wempi Wetipo as Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, and Afriansyah Noor as Deputy Minister of Manpower.
