TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta-owned bus operator Transportation Jakarta (TransJakarta) spokesman Iwan Samariansyah said the bus ticket fare is under the authority of the city’s Transportation Agency. The firm, he added, is still waiting for the government’s order regarding the impact of the hike in gas fuel or BBG.

“There is no instruction about the increase in the service fare by far,” said Iwan in a statement, Friday, May 13, 2022.

As a regional-owned company in the transportation sector, TransJakarta is ready to follow the best orders issued by the provincial government without compromising the quality of service to customers. At present, the average number of bus users reaches 500,000 people per day.

Iwan said the hike in BBG prices would indeed affect TransJakarta's operating costs. However, it would not be significant because there are only a few buses using gas fuel. “Until now, there are 52 buses that still use BBG,” he added.

Previously reported, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) decided to increase the price of gas fuel for the transportation sector by Rp1,400 starting May 1, 2022. The price of gas fuel, which was previously Rp3,100 per premium-equivalent liter (lsp), rose to Rp4,500 per lsp.
