TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's Honorary Council for Medical Ethics (MKEK) in a special session, decided to permanently expel Dr. dr. Terawan Agus Putranto, former health minister, from the Indonesian Medical Association (IDI) membership.

"Deciding, determining, passing on the results of the MKEK special session which has decided a permanent dismissal of colleague Prof. Dr. dr. Terawan Agus Putranto, SpRad(K) as a member of IDI," the session's presidium chairman, Abdul Azis , said in a press release on Sunday.

Abdul Azis said the dismissal process is to be carried out by the Executive Board of IDI within 28 working days at the latest.

"This decision comes into effect from the date of the stipulation," he added.

The decision was read out at the 31st Congress of IDI organized in Banda Aceh City, Aceh Province, Friday (25/3).
