TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency of Pamekasan, East Java, confirmed that 6,329 families were evacuated after floods hit the regency on Tuesday morning, March 1.

“As many as 6,329 families affected by the flood are spread across six sub-districts and four villages,” said the agency’s spokesperson Zaini in Pamekasan, Tuesday night.

The residents are evacuated to Jungcangcang sub-district, Patemon, Parteker, Barurambat, Kanginan sub-district, Laden Village, Nyalabuh Laok Village, Samiran, and Kodik Village.

Zaini confirmed that the data was received by the BPBD on Tuesday at around 23:50 Western Indonesian Time (WIB). “The data possibly increase, considering that not all affected villages/sub-districts have reported their data tonight,” he added.

Floods triggered by overflowing rivers in Pamekasan hit several villages in five districts, namely Pamekasan, Palengaan, Proppo, Pademawu, and Galis. The worst-hit district is Pamekasan as floodwater inundated five sub-districts and two villages.

A number of public facilities, such as educational institutions, houses of prayer, and government offices are also flooded.
