TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) guaranteed the reliability of the electricity supply for the world-class motorcycle racing event MotoGP in Mandalika, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
The ministry’s director of electricity program development Jisman Hutajulu said his side had coordinated with state-owned electricity firm PLN to prevent a power outage from happening during the international event which will kick-start with pre-season tests on February 11-13 and the Grand Prix on March 18-20, 2022.
“We appreciate the zero downtime scheme applied by PLN NTB. This scheme prioritizes reliable electricity services that ensure safe electricity supply with layered scenarios supported by adequate technologies,” Jisman said in a statement in Jakarta, Wednesday, Feb. 9.
Jisman hoped that PLN would coordinate with the Indonesia Tourism Development Cooperation (ITDC) more intensively as the organizer, ministries or agencies, local governments, and other agencies to ensure the power supply.
“PLN also ensures the feasibility of all electrical installations before they are operated,” he added.
PLN reportedly will supply the MotoGP Mandalika circuit through three main electricity lines; two lines from the Kuta substation and one line from the Sengkol substation.
