TEMPO.CO, Bandung - West Java Education Agency head Dedi Supandi asked Bogor, Depok, and Bekasi to postpone the fully face-to-face learning (PTM) while waiting for the development of COVID-19 cases in the regions until the end of January.

“If there is no increase in cases or others while continuing to increase vaccination coverage, they’ll be allowed to conduct 100 percent PTM in February,” said Dedi in a statement, Wednesday, January 5.

Dedi said West Java is ready to hold on-site studies as the preparations have been made since the beginning of the odd semester last year. “But we maintain vigilance and keep monitoring readiness of schools, especially on health protocol facilities and other rules according to the central government.”

Regions under the enforcement of public mobility restrictions or PPKM Level 1 and 2 are allowed to fully open classrooms. Regions under PPKM Level 3, meanwhile, are permitted to hold it at 50 percent capacity.

Specifically for Bogor, Depok, Bekasi, and other regions that have not reached the vaccination coverage target, they were asked to postpone the program until the end of this month.

Based on the Home Affairs Ministerial Instruction No. 1/2022 on PPKM in Java and Bali, the COVID-19 restrictions policy was extended until January 17. Sukabumi, Purwakarta, Pangandaran, Tasikmalaya, Banjar, Cirebon, and Ciamis are categorized in PPKM Level 1, while the rest regions are in Level 2, including Bogor, Depok, and Bekasi.
