Police Receive 141 Complaints on Medical Kits Investment Fraud

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police’s Directorate of Special Economic Crimes received 141 complaints about investment fraud in medical devices.

“There are 141 victims with a total loss of Rp60.7 billion,” said the police spokesman Sr. Comr. Ahmad Ramadhan on Wednesday, December 22.

Ramadhan explained that the case started with the police report (LP) filed by an individual, L, on December 13, 2021, who claimed to have lost Rp52.5 billion in the investment scam.

The police quickly investigated the case and named three suspects identified as VAK, BS, and DR. They have already been detained.

Based on the statements of other victims, the total loss reached Rp362.385 billion.

In this case, Ramadhan went on, the investigators apprehended four people. Three of them are the suspects and the other one, DA, is the husband of the suspect, DR. The latter’s role is still being investigated.

The suspects were charged with multiple articles, including on banking, trade, and money laundering. “The suspects face up to 15 years in prison,” said Ramadhan.
