TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta branch of state-owned electricity firm PLN UID Jakarta planned to build 11 more electric vehicle or EV charging stations until the end of 2021 to meet public demand.

General Manager of PLN Jakarta Doddy B Pangaribuan said today, October 11, that more charging stations would support the capacity of the six existing charging stations.

The 11 charging stations were planned to be open in eight out of 22 potential locations across the capital city, such as shopping centers, government offices, PLN offices, public transport facilities, and vehicle sales companies.

PLN has already had seven electric vehicle charging stations in five locations; viz. three Fast Charging Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU) in PLN UID Jakarta, one SPKLU in Bulungan, one SPKLU in Lenteng Agung, one SPKLU in Tanjung Priok, and one SPKLU in Jatinegara. The other one is SPKLU under a private company.

Based on the PLN UID Jakarta’s data as of September 27, 2021, there were 2,877 total transactions in the seven SPKLUs with the total energy distributed reaching 50,687 kilowatts per hour (kwh).

Of the figure, the highest transaction was recorded at the SPKLU PLN UID Jakarta with up to 2,771 transactions and the total energy distributed at 48,506 kwh. The tariff is affordable at Rp2,466 per kwh.

PLN UID Jakarta recorded the revenue of the EV charging stations until July 14, 2021, amounted to Rp135 million from 22 locations, eight of which were managed by PLN. Information about the location of SPKLUs is available via the Charge.in mobile app in the Google PlayStore.
