TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police's Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim) have arrested YouTuber Muhammad Kace alias Muhammad Kece on Wednesday, August 25. The man was nabbed for allegedly committing religious blasphemy.

The Head of the Police’s Bareskrim, Comr. Gen. Agus Andrianto confirmed the news. “He has been arrested,” said Agus as quoted from the press release of the National Police Public Relations on Wednesday, August 25.

Agus explained Kece was apprehended in Bali. The latter is now being taken to the Bareskrim’s office for further investigation. “He will be brought to the Bareskrim,” said Agus.

Muhammad Kece became a public spotlight after his video went viral on social media. In the video, he used insulting remarks against the Prophet Muhammad SAW. Kece was later reported to the police for alleged blasphemy.

The National Police stated that the initial pieces of evidence were sufficient to take the case to the next level of investigation.
