Indonesia Records 33,773 More Covid-19 Infections

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia is still recording high numbers of Covid-19 infections daily. On Wednesday, July 21—one day after the government extended the emergency public activity restriction or Emergency PPKM, the Health Ministry reported 33,773 new cases over the last 24 hours.

"The number of confirmed cases as of 15:00 today, July 21, is 33,773," the ministry's spokesperson, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, said in an online press conference.

The positive cases came from testing 153,330 specimens. Indonesia currently has 549,694 active cases of Covid-19.

The province that reported the most new infections was in West Java with 5,950 cases, followed by Jakarta (5,904), Central Java (4,253), East Java (3,859), Banten (1,903), Yogyakarta (1,648), East Nusa Tenggara (1,249), and Bali (1,111 cases).

Indonesian authorities also reported 32,887 new recoveries and 1,383 new deaths.
