TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo officially launched free medicine and vitamin packages for Covid-19 patients undergoing self-isolation in risk areas. The launching event was held in the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta, Thursday, July 15.

“For the current stage, 300,000 packages will be distributed in Java-Bali. And 300,000 more packages for outside Java,” said the President as broadcasted via the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel today.

The medicine packages that will be distributed are divided into Package 1 for asymptomatic Covid-19 patients, Package 2 for patients developing mild symptoms, and Package 3 for patients developing medium symptoms. Each package contains therapeutic Covid-19 drugs and vitamins for seven days. For Package 2 and 3, the distribution must be with a doctor's prescription.

“The medicine package is not for sale. The supply is prepared by SOE Minister, and the distribution is under the coordination of the Military Commander who will coordinate with the regional up to village administration, by involving Puskesmas (community health centers), Babinsa (village supervisory non-commissioned officers), and RT/RW (neighborhood/community unit) officers,” the state head explained.

Jokowi also asked for strict supervision in the distribution of the free Covid-19 treatment packages. “And I also ask that this program must not disrupt the availability of essential therapeutic drugs for Covid-19 treatment in pharmacies and hospitals,” he said.
