TEMPO.CO, Semarang - Central Java Regional Police Chief Inspector General Ahmad Luthfi said that his side will close all exit toll gates in the province from July 16-22, 2021, in order to optimize the enforcement of the emergency state of public mobility restriction or Emergency PPKM.

The decision was taken in the meeting held by the Central Java Regional Police with cross-sectoral parties at the Semarang Regency Hall on Tuesday, July 13.

Luthfi explained the closure of 27 exit toll gates was because the areas were considered as epicenters and central gravity of the community. Additionally, the police installed 224 checkpoints in the provincial areas under the restriction policy. “This aims at reducing public activity in our areas,” he said

He reiterated that all vehicles from Jakarta and East Java could not enter Central Java, “unless those included in the Home Affairs Ministerial Circular No. 15 of 2021.”

Besides, East Java Regional Police were also set to close all toll exits in the region during the same period. However, essential and critical sector employees would still be allowed to pass.

East Java Traffic Director Police Sr. Come. Latif Usman said the police installed checkpoints at seven inter-provincial areas, 18 exit tolls, and 20 other areas. “There will be a total of 74 inter-city checkpoints and 196 checkpoints within the city,” said Latif on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, related with the Emergency PPKM enforcement.
