TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia Vice President Ma'ruf Amin promoted tourism in Raja Ampat Regency, West Papua, when opening the 2021 Raja Ampat e-Festival. He calls on the public to travel while still complying with health protocols.
“I invite all of us to visit Raja Ampat to enjoy the beauty of exotic nature and culture,” said Ma'ruf on Monday, June 28.
The tourism promotion is related to the Proud of Traveling or Gerakan Bangga Berwisata in Indonesia Movement or program, which is aimed at driving the economy in the tourism sector.
Ma'ruf also encouraged the local governments of West Papua and Raja Ampat to build souvenir centers selling typical local wisdom products in accordance with the era and market needs, as well as prepare tourist destinations with Muslim-friendly facilities.
“Both lodging and restaurant facilities must promote comfort for Muslim tourists visiting Raja Ampat or West Papua,” the VP added.
Raja Ampat is renowned as one of the tourist destinations that offer beautiful landscapes and marine life. The underwater world also attracts foreign tourists.
Ma'ruf Amin said the government is building sky-toll infrastructure to reach eastern parts of the country, particularly West Papua, in order to support Raja Ampat tourism.
