Minister Luhut Pandjaitan Visits China; Bilateral Partnership Improved

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investments Luhut Pandjaitan, in a report by Antaranews on Tuesday, met with Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China, Wang Yi on June 5.

According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson Wang Wenbin reportedly stated in a press release that China’s government plans to open new opportunities and increase the bilateral partnerships of the two countries.

The press statement also revealed that the two countries have agreed on a number of partnerships, which was a direct result of the meeting between Luhut Pandjaitan and Wang Yi.

The meeting at Dunhuang in the Gansu Province also produced a memorandum of understanding towards the establishment of a comprehensive regional economic corridor along with the introduction of the corridor’s joint committee.

Both government representatives signed an agreement towards increasing partnership in the field of maritime affairs, politics, economy, and culture. Wan Wenbin also mentioned mutual support from Indonesia and China for national development and research. They also agreed to jointly develop the industrial sector, production, and vaccine distribution.

The two countries will also align vision and mission for the Belt Road Initiative (BRI) and the Global Maritime Axis in order to accelerate developments on industrial park platforms and shared markets.
