China to Continue Investing in Lake Toba: Luhut Pandjaitan

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan on Friday asserted that investors from China and other countries would still continue to invest in North Sumatra’s Lake Toba.
“Take the Chinese investors for example, they have invested in a number of projects and will still continue investing in the Lake Toba area,” said Luhut Pandjaitan at the Toba Caldera on Friday.
The minister stopped short of revealing the investment value in, but assured that the "significant investments" will be in the form of infrastructure and hotels in the Lake Toba area. Luhut Pandjaitan once mentioned that Chinese investments in the area could reach up to US$10 billion.
Luhut Pandjaitan visited Lake Toba after attending the Indonesia-China Tourism and Investment Forum for 5 Key Super Priority Tourism Destination, which was also attended by Chinese ambassador to Indonesia Xiao Qian.
The event was also held to commemorate the diplomatic ties between Indonesia and China.
