TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned telecommunication firm PT Telkom Indonesia and its subsidiary cellular operator PT Telkomsel responded to the police summon of their executives in an alleged corruption case. The two officials are Telkomsel President Director Setyanto Hantoro and Telkom Director Edi Witjara.

Both were summoned as witnesses. To Tempo on Monday, May 24, Telkomsel Vice President of Corporate Communications Denny Abidin said the company was still reviewing the summon, “as a company that commits to implementing good corporate governance and supporting the process according to applicable laws.”

Denny said the company would support the legal process in accordance with existing regulations. Vice President of Telkom Corporate Communications Pujo Pramono expressed a similar response.

Pujo said Telkom had received the summon. “Our legal team is coordinating with the Jakarta Metro Police to confirm the summon,” he added.

Jakarta Metro Police Special Crime Directorate investigators planned to question Setyanto Hantoro and Edi Witjara on Thursday, May 27, 2021. The two Telkomsel officials were scheduled to be questioned as witnesses in an alleged corruption case of a proposal submission for the new sales of the Telkomsel broadband synergy program.

Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Yusri Yunus said he had not yet received any information regarding the investigation. “I'll check it first,” said Yusri today.
