TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Jokowi Widodo left for East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) today, April 9, to directly monitor locations affected by flash floods.

“Boarding the Indonesian Presidential Aircraft-1, the President and his entourage took off from the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, at around 06:00 and are scheduled to land at Frans Seda Airport, Sikka Regency,” as quoted from the Presidential Secretariat’s statement on Friday.

Kupang City and 21 districts in NTT Province were struck by a number of disasters following the tropical cyclone Seroja from April 2 to 5, 2021.

NTT Governor Viktor Laiskodat declared an emergency response status starting April 6 to May 5, 2021. Based on the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) data as of Thursday night, April 8, 163 people died and 45 people went missing.

Among the entourage of President Jokowi are Public Works and Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Presidential Secretariat Head Heru Budi Hartono, Presidential Military Secretary First Marshall Tonny Harjono, Presidential Security Detail (Paspampres) Commander Major General Agus Subiyanto, and Deputy for Protocol, Press, and Media of the Presidential Secretariat Bey Machmudin.
