TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Transportation Agency Head Syafrin Liputo said the city provides 25 buses and deploys 55 personnel to accommodate the elderly people willing to get the Covid-19 vaccine at nearby health facilities.

He said that five buses will be placed in each administrative city. “The agency’s School Transportation Management Unit (UPAS) will continue to coordinate with the health agency at the city level. We will add more fleets if necessary,” said Syafrin in a written statement on Friday, March 19.

The city’s UPAS head Ali Murtadho said a medium bus can carry 22 people, while the microbus has a capacity of 20 passengers. The bus will take senior citizens who have been registered by the city or the health agency to undergo vaccination.

According to Ali, the bus will stand by at predetermined pick-up points. Elderlies must first request the service. “Because the transportation system is based on the set point proposed by the community health centers (Puskesmas) or sub-district administrations. “The elderly people will then be escorted to the pick-up point after being vaccinated,” he explained.

The shuttle bus service is expected to ease the burden of residents, especially the elderly, who are constrained by transportation issues to reach the vaccination site. “We are trying to facilitate and respond to it quickly so that people can get help, and the vaccination program can run smoothly,” Ali said.
