Transportation Sector Workers Receive Covid-19 Shots

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi on Friday, March 19, said that the Covid-19 vaccination for workers in the public transportation sector has been started. He explained that each and every region in Indonesia will prioritize workers in transportation nodes. 

The Minister asserted that this vaccination will give certainty for business owners in the public transport sector and hopefully spark economic resurgence after the transportation sector receives a major blow amidst the pandemic. 

He hopes that the Health Ministry will allocate more doses of vaccines for this sector to accelerate the national goal. However, Budi Karya reminded people to continue obeying the health protocols.

The Transportation Ministry vaccinated 1,052 workers in the transportation sector which was held in Gambir Station in Central Jakarta. 

State-owned railway operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (PT KAI) Director, Didiek Hartantyo, said that 210 of workers in KAI were vaccinated today. It adds the total number of KAI employees who have been vaccinated to 7,295 people.
