Gerinda Backs Anies Baswedan to Sell Beer Shares in PT Delta

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) deputy speaker Mohamad Taufik has voiced support for Governor Anies Baswedan who is determined to sell the city’s shares in beer company PT Delta. The city government has 58.33 percent shares in the company.
“As the party that endorses Pak Anies, we always support the plan to sell the shares," the Gerindra politician told reporters at the City Hall on Monday, March 1.
However, he clarified the plan had not been yet discussed by the regional legislators who took office in Kebon Sirih as some of them had denied the idea.
“We, as the supporting party, support the government's plan," Taufik underlined.
Anies Baswedan's plan to sell the city’s shares in PT Delta Djakarta was hampered by the absence of a response from the Jakarta DPRD to the request.
Jakarta is known to have owned shares in PT Delta Djakarta since 1970 during the era of then Governor Ali Sadikin. The firm was initially a German brewery called Archipel Brouwerij NV, which was established in the Dutch colonial era.
At present, PT Delta Djakarta produces a number of well-known beer brands, such as Anker Beer, Anker Stout, Kuda Putih, and Carlsberg Beer. Most of the products are distributed in the local market. The beer manufacturer is situated in Bekasi, West Java.
