TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - House of Representatives (DPR) secretary-general Indra Iskandar said Friday there were roughly 12,000 COVID-19 vaccine recipients comprising legislators and their families, expert staff, security personnel, janitors, drivers, up to state apparatus’ within the DPR.
“The total number will likely reach 12,000,” said Indra at the DPR Senayan parliamentary complex on February 26.
He said the first phase of vaccinations had already started from February 24 and was scheduled to last up to March 10, 2021, whereas the second phase would start after March 10. Based on Tempo’s observation, the one section of the DPR complex known as Gedung Nusantara was used as the location for the vaccination and was guarded by security personnel.
The vaccination period, according to Indra, coincides with the Health Ministry’s target to conduct 1,000-1,500 vaccinations each day. However, he said that the reality in the field suggested that it was still behind the target as many DPR members were currently in recess.
The first day of vaccinations only saw 500 vaccine recipients but the number increased to 1,200 on the second day, while the third day was still ongoing. According to Indra, there are a total of 575 DPR legislators and 2,600 of their family members.
