TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Metro Jaya Police managed to collect up to IDR 1.96 billion worth of Covid-19 health protocol violation fines in the two Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) cities of East Jakarta and Depok.

Police collected a large number of fines during its 'Yustisi Operation' held from September 2020 up to January 2021.

"There were 123,816 violations in East Jakarta and 93,979 violations in Depok," said Metro Jaya Police chief Grand. Comm. Yusri Yunus on Wednesday, January 27, 2021.

Apart from individual Covid-19 health protocol violations, police also acted upon violations committed by office building managements that had not complied to PSBB social restrictions by temporarily closing operations of 172 offices and 599 food and beverages businesses in the whole Greater Jakarta.

"The operation handed sanctions to 541,935 people throughout the Yustisi Operation," said commissioner Yusri Yunus.
