TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The anti-terror detachment Densus 88 main intelligence analyst, Brig. General Ibnu Suhendra on Thursday said that the two terrorists identified as MR (45) and SA (22) who were killed in a recent raid had planned a suicide bomb attack that was scheduled to take place in the near future.
“Both of them and intended and planned their suicide bombings. However, we have not uncovered their target location,” said Ibnu Suhendra on Thursday, January 7.
He further elaborated that the suspected terrorists had long prepared to launch their suicide bombings and had trained to shoot firearms in the forest of an unnamed mountain.
“We moved in swiftly. They had prepared this for a long time and they routinely hiked mountains to practice their shooting skills,” said the intelligence analyst.
The Indonesian National Police (Polri) stated that the two suspects had openly pledged their allegiance to ISIS back in 2015 along with other members of the Indonesian terrorist group JAD that had died in Nusa Kambangan.
