Indonesia Condemns Terrorist Attack at Russia's Concert Theater

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry condemned the terrorist attack at a concert arena near the city of Moscow, Russia on Friday night, March 22. The number of casualties reached 115 people and another 120 people were injured.
“Indonesia extended the deepest condolence to the victims and the families,” said the ministry’s spokesperson Lalu Muhamad Iqbal in a written statement in Jakarta on Saturday, March 23.
Earlier, the director of the Indonesian Citizen Protection and Legal Agency Judha Nugraha said that there had been no report on Indonesian nationals among the victims of the gunmen attack.
He also said that the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow had urged Indonesians in Russia to be more vigilant in the coming period, as Russian authorities had tightened security following the attack.
"In case of emergency, contact the hotline of the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow immediately," he said.
The attack that killed dozens and injured hundreds of people took place at the Crocus City Hall in Krasnogorsk, a city west of the Russian capital - Moscow.
Moscow authorities immediately tightened security. Residents of the city were searched before being allowed to enter a number of public facilities, including metro stations.
Russian President Vladimir Putin also expressed his condolences to all the victims of the attack and wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the incident.
Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said he had ordered the cancellation of all concert events in his region for the weekend.
