TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The West Jakarta Police have reportedly arrested two crystal meth dealers identified as MHL (37) and AGL (37) in the area of Duri Kepa as. The police suspected the two of taking part in a drug trafficking network from one of the city’s penitentiaries.

“They have distributed crystal meth 15 to 20 times,” said Kebon Jeruk Police Chief Comr. Sigit R. Kumono in a written release on Friday.

The police confiscated 1.3 kilograms of crystal meth worth Rp2 billion from the arrest. Sigit said the two suspects claimed to have started the illegal drug business since March 2020.

However, the police strongly suspected the crystal meth came from a drug kingpin who is currently incarcerated in a Jakarta prison. An investigation has been launched to look into the criminal network.
