TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil will visit industrial areas in Bekasi Regency today. The purpose of his visit is to discuss the increasing spread of Covid-19 among factory workers, now known as the industrial/factory cluster.

"Tomorrow I will go to Bekasi, meet with industrial estate owners, to map out where the problem lies," he said during an online press conference from Bandung, Thursday, September 3.

According to Ridwan, the preliminary investigations revealed than most of the industrial parks with cases of Covid-19 have actually implemented strict health protocols. He suspects that the spread of Covid-19 in Bekasi industrial estates did not originate in factories.

"There is a possibility that it spread from residential areas. The health control in residential areas is not as tight as in the workplace," he said.

Nevertheless, Ridwan asked Covid-19 Task Force to close factories and workplaces temporarily to curb further transmission of the coronavirus.

Ridwan also asked factories management to keep reminding workers that they must implement the health protocol even after they left work.
