TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Argo Yuwono said that his side was cooperating with the Royal Malaysia Police to track the whereabouts of fugitive Djoko Tjandra who was reportedly in Malaysia.

“We are trying to arrest and repatriate him,” said Argo in Senayan Shooting Range, South Jakarta, on Wednesday, July 22.

However, Argo claimed the national police could not yet confirm that the fugitive was surely in the neighboring country. He added that the police had prepared special strategies to pursue Djoko.

“There are indeed pursuit plans that have been set,” Argo said.

The Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) previously echoed that the fugitive was in Malaysia. The MAKI Coordinator Boyamin Saiman said that in October 2019, an Indonesian advocate met with Djoko at the 105th floor of Signature Tower of Tun Razak Exchange 106 Complex, Malaysia.

“The lawyer offered his client's apartment to Joko Tjandra. I know the advocate because he once joined my office,” said Boyamin Saiman in a written statement on Sunday, July 19, 2020.
