TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Police Brigadier General Prasetyo Utomo, on Wednesday, had reportedly been detained at a ‘special detention room’ for 14-days upon undergoing police investigation which involves him issuing a permit for longtime fugitive Joko Tjandra without going through the proper clearance.
His actions were deemed a violation against Police Internal Affairs policies.
“As of tonight, [Brigadier General Prasetyo Utomo] had been placed in a special holding room for 14-days,” said Police Inspector General Argo Yuwono at the Polri headquarters on Wednesday, July 15.
Brig. Prasetyo had also been stripped of his position at the Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim) and had been demoted to High-ranking Community Service Officer following his investigation by Police internal affairs (Propam).
Police said that the initial investigation uncovered Prasetyo had issued a clearance for Djoko Tjandra without the knowledge of his senior officer. As of his motive, Inspector Argo Yuwono remained tight-lipped as the investigation is still ongoing.
The Indonesian national police said that it will not stop at Brig. Gen. Prasetyo Utomo and will continue the investigation even deeper to uncover whether other police personnel was involved.
