Crime Statistics, Police Report a Slight Drop in July

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Police (Polri) announced on Wednesday that crimes have slightly dropped by 2.89 percent from the 28th week up to the 29th week of 2020, which falls in July.

Polri Grand Commissioner Ahmad Ramadhan on Wednesday explains the 28th week recorded 5,439 cases compared to the declining number on the 29th week that recorded 5,282 cases.

“There were 157 cases less,” Ahmad confirmed on Wednesday, July 22.

Classified into several categories, the criminal activities mostly comprise of theft with violence (592 cases), narcotics (728 cases), motorcycle theft (200 cases), embezzlement (4,287 cases), and theft with violence (93 cases).

“The presence of military TNI members and police in the field helped criminals to avert from committing crime,” said the police spokesperson.
