Police Arrest 3 Suspects in the Abuse of Indonesian Ship Crews

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe National Police (Polri) human trafficking task force (TPPO) on late Sunday evening arrested three new suspects in the abuse of Indonesian ship crews aboard the Chinese flag vessel, Lu Huang Yuan Yu 118.

Police announced that the three suspects are H.A. the president director of PT Hinggar Marina International; T.A. commissioner of Mandiri Jaya Makmur; and T.S. the president director of Mandiri Jaya Makmur. 

The three suspects were captured on July 19 in separate locations according to police reports. 

“The three of them have been taken to the Tegal Police Headquarters for further investigation,” said the national police spokesperson Brigadier General Awi Setiyono on Tuesday, July 21.

However, police have not released information regarding the involvement of the three suspects in the abuse of Indonesian ship crews. Police announced that they are still searching for two other suspects related to the case: M.U. the sponsor from PT Manunggal Tunggal Bahari and L.K. the director of PT Novarika Agata Mandiri. 

As of July 11, 2020, police have arrested and named Song Chuanyun as the suspect who acted as the vessel’s supervisor.
