TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Chinese Embassy in Jakarta ensured that it would comply with the Indonesian regulations regarding the arrival of foreign workers, including those working in Konawe, Southeast Sulawesi.

“The Chinese companies fully comply with existing laws and regulations in Indonesia and actively transfer the technology,” said the Chinese Embassy's counselor for economic and commercial affairs Wang Liping in an online press conference in Jakarta, Wednesday, June 24.

The health factor was one of China’s main concerns in ensuring its compliance with the Indonesian government's policy before sending workers.

“The first group of workers will arrive in Indonesia accompanied by four medical staff. Before departure, they undergo Covid-19 tests and receive health certificates that follow the Indonesian health protocols,” Wang explained.

Besides, the arrival of the Chinese workers in Konawe, Southeast Sulawesi, had been allowed by the Indonesian central and regional governments.

“At present, the Chinese and Indonesian governments are discussing the establishment of a 'fast track'. This is a manifestation that both governments collaborate closely and support each other,” he added.

According to Wang, the establishment of the fast lane would be mutually beneficial for the two countries to recover the normal economic and trade exchange, and ensure the stability of the supply and industrial chain.

“The return of Chinese workers will not only accelerate the project development in Indonesia but also contribute to the implementation of the 'new normal' policy by the Indonesian government in order to restore economic activity,” Wang said.
