TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) cultural park in East Jakarta announced its readiness to reopen once the new normal policy enforces. The park’s culture and tourism information manager Diah Tri Irawati said her side has prepared all things needed.

“We are one of the tourist sites that are allowed to reopen the first when the PSBB ends,” Diah told Tempo on Thursday, May 28.

She explained that by implementing the new normal protocols, all employees and visitors are obliged to wear face masks, pass the body temperature check, and wash hands. “We will set up the body temperature checkpoints and handwashing stations at the entrance gate and all sites.”

Besides, visitors must maintain social and physical distancing between each other. The TMII management will also limit the number of visitors, two-third of the full capacity. “There will be only 20,000 visitors per day at maximum,” Diah added.

On normal days, TMII recorded up to 15,000 tourists on weekdays and 45,000 tourists on weekends. On the Eid holiday, the number reached over 60,000 in a day.

Diah went on to say that the Indonesian Military (TNI) will assist to guard the TMII in a bid to prevent crowds especially in favorite sites such as Kayu Gede, Taman Burung (Birds Park), KTT Non-Blok, and traditional houses. “TNI officers will standby starting from the entrance gates to help us.”
