TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Police's PR chief Comr. Yusri Yunus said he would question several department heads with regards to the collapse of a building in Slipi, West Jakarta. The heads of the departments will be questioned about aspects related to building permits and building tax.
"We will call the heads of the Cipta Karya Office and the Tax Service Office," Yusri said at the Jakarta Police Headquarters in South Jakarta, Thursday, January 9.
Yusri didn't say when the department chiefs would be summoned; saying only that it would be done this week.
"We will ask [them] about administration and everything," he said.
A five-story store building collapsed Monday morning, January 6. The Alfamart minimarket building collapsed from the top floor to the second floor. Eleven people were reported to have been injured in the incident.
The Police's Forensic Lab reported that their early suspicion was that the building collapsed because the structure's iron buffers were damaged and rusty due to water leakage caused by poor plumbing.
