TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Metro Police scheduled an examination of the attack case against Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigator Novel Baswedan today, January 6.

Novel confirmed that he will meet the summon. “Yes, I will go for questioning tomorrow (Jan. 6) at 10 a.m.,” Novel told Tempo on Sunday night, January 5. He ensured that he will visit the police headquarters with his lawyers.

To Novel, the examination would be the first after the police arrested two alleged perpetrators at the end of December 2019. The two are active police’s mobile brigade members, namely Ronny Bugis (RB) and Rahmat Kadir Mahulette (RM).

“I’ll be examined as a victim witness,” Novel added. His lawyer Saor Siagian seconded the statement.

Ronny Bugis is suspected to be the executor who splashed the acidic liquid to Novel's face at dawn on April 11, 2017. The attack nearly caused him blind.

Meanwhile, Rahmat is believed to have helped the attack by riding a motorcycle to accommodate Ronny. Rahmat said that he committed the act against Novel who was a former policeman as he considered Novel a traitor.

Novel Baswedan claimed that he did not acknowledge the suspects. Yet Rahmat's remarks made him ensure that the two alleged perpetrators only run the errand. "They didn't stand alone. By means, they are messengers. I'm more certain of that," Novel said.
