TEMPO.CO, Yogyakarta - Former chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Busyro Muqoddas, hoped the police could reveal the intellectual actors behind the attack against KPK senior investigator Novel Baswedan.

“The masterminds behind the terror case against Novel must be disclosed,” said Busyro on the sidelines of a discussion event at the Muhammadiyah headquarters in Yogyakarta, Monday, December 30.

According to Busyro, arresting the attackers is not enough considering the terrors did not only target Novel personally, but also the anti-graft body.

In addition to Novel, the residences of former KPK chairman Agus Rahardjo, former deputy head Laode M Syarif, and investigator Afif Julian Miftah were also terrorized.

“The series of terrors prove that they did not only target Novel as a person, but rather the institution,” Busyro underlined.

Busyro hoped the legal proceedings against the two suspected attackers would be carried out transparently, given public criticism whether they were the real perpetrators in this case.

The police on Friday, December 27, announced two suspects identified as RB and RM as the perpetrators behind the acid attack against Novel Baswedan. Both are active policemen.
