TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - KPK investigator Novel Baswedan responded to a police report on him filed by PDIP politician Dewi Tanjung. Dewi accuses Novel of fabricating the acid attack on him which happened in April 2017.

"Perhaps she wants to prank the cops. She is seeking sensation," reporter wants to work on the police perhaps. Look for sensations," Novel told Tempo, Wednesday, November 6, 2019.

Dewi reported Novel to the Jakarta Metro Police on Wednesday afternoon. When met, Dewi accused the KPK investigator of fabricating the attack on him.

She said there were many oddities in the case, such as the fact that the acid only injured Novel's eye. According to Dewi, if acid was thrown at him, his face should have suffered injuries as well.

Dewi also said that there were also things that did not add up, including one of the videos showing Novel's condition after the attack, in which his eye looked fine.

Dewi said she brought a number of items of evidence corroborating her accusation, but she declined to elaborate, only saying that she has photographs and videos.

Online, there has been a debate on social media about whether Novel's attack was true. But a medical report from Singapore's Eye & Retina Surgeons Clinic, on May 26, 2017, showed that Novel admitted himself to the clinic on April 12, 2017. He was transferred there after undergoing treatment due to acid injury at the Jakarta Eye Center on April 11, 5:00 a.m.

The medical report also stated there were mild to moderate burns on his face and eyelids that had been treated and that the chemicals injured both his eyes.
