TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National Police underlined that its technical team was still working on the attack case against Novel Baswedan and even discovered significant findings to unveil the truth.

“There are some very significant things discovered by the technical team, yet we cannot reveal them,” said National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Mohammad Iqbal in a press release, Thursday, Oct. 31.

Iqbal balked at detailing whether the team would get additional time to disclose the terror case against the senior investigator of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). He hoped the team could complete it soon.

“As soon as possible. Just pray for the technical team to immediately solve this case,” the police added.

Novel Baswedan received terrors on April 11, 2017. He was splashed by acid liquid after performing morning prayer at Al-Ihsan Mosque, Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta.

The working period of the technical team formed by the police’s criminal investigation department (Bareskrim) head Comsr. Gen. Idham Azis, who was recently appointed as National Police Chief, lasted from August 3 until October 31, 2019.

Idham said that he would assign new Bareskrim head soon in order to accelerate the case disclosure. “I would possibly be inaugurated by Bapak President [as Police Chief] tomorrow (Nov. 1), and soon after, I would appoint new Bareskrim chief,” he said.
