TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President-elect Joko Widodo or Jokowi and Ma'ruf Amin have just read the oath of office on Sunday, October 20, 2019.

"Bismillahirahmanirahim (In the Name of God, the Merciful and the Compassionate), By God, I swear I will fulfill the obligations of the President of Indonesia as well as possible and as fair as possible. Hold the Constitution firmly and carry out all the laws and regulations as straight as possible and serve the homeland and the nation," said Jokowi reading the president's oath.

After that it was Ma'ruf Amin's turn to read the oath.

"Bismillahirahmanirahim, By God, I swear I will fulfill the obligations of the Vice President of Indonesia as well as possible and as fair as possible. Hold the Constitution firmly and carry out all the laws and regulations as straight as possible and serve the homeland and the nation," said Ma 'ruf Amin.

Both of them then signed the minutes of the president's inauguration along with the Chairman of the MPR and its leadership in the signing.

With the reading of the oath of office and the signing of the minutes of inauguration, Jokowi and Ma'ruf Amin officially became president and vice president for the period 2019-2024.
