200 Students Escorted to Police Station after DPR Rally

TEMPO.CO , Jakarta - Some 200 senior high school students were escorted to the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Station for allegedly staging a violent rally in front of the parliament (DPR) building in Jakarta Wednesday evening. Chief of the Public Relations Bureau of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Senior Commissioner Argo Yuwono confirmed the detention of around 200 students at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Station "It is true, the students staged a rally in front of the parliament building, and we later detained them," he said. The police are still interrogating the students, and have not established the motive behind the rally, Argo said. None of the detained students carried sharp weapons during the rally, he added.
