List of Universities Allegedly Involved in Ferienjob Human Trafficking Case

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology is reviewing sanctions for 33 universities in the country that are suspected of being involved in the human trafficking case under the guise of a Ferienjob internship in Germany.  

“We are currently conducting a review of the [sanction]. We continue to coordinate this with the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit assisted by the Presidential Staff Office (KSP),” the ministry’s Director General of Higher Education, Abdul Haris, said in Jakarta on Wednesday, March 27, as reported by Antara.

As previously reported, the police have named five suspects in this case. They are three women and two men, namely ER alias EW (39), AE (37), AJ (52), SS (65), and MZ (60). Two of them are in Germany.

There are at least 41 universities across Indonesia that are recorded as sending students on the internship program to Germany in 2023 as follows:

4. University of Indonesia Timur (UIT).

5. Haluoleo University (Uho).

6. Palembang PGRI University.

7. Jambi University (Unja).

10. Stikom Bali Institute of Technology and Business (ITB).

11. UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.

12. Open University (Universitas Terbuka/UT).

13. Tadulako University (Untad).

14. Fajar University Makassar (Unifa).

15. Pelita Harapan University (UPH).

16. Trisakti University (Usakti).

17. Atma Jaya University.

18. Bina Nusantara University (Binus).

19. Deli Husada Health Institute (Inkes).

20. Inkes Medistra.

21. Nias Raya University (Uniraya).

22. Lubuk Pakam Inkes.
