TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo urged political parties to provide young professionals as candidates for his second-term cabinet.

“I ask political parties to offer young [candidates] and from professionals,” said the president today as he opened the Karya Kreatif Indonesia 2019 (2019 Indonesian Creative Works) at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC).

He added that he would look for that requirements from sources other than political organizations if parties failed to provide him with such candidates.

Previously, a number of parties from the Jokowi coalition proposed their desired quota of ministerial seats for their candidates to the president.

In response, Jokowi said that he already had a clear view of the cabinet that would work together with him for his second term of 2019-2024. He suggested that the cabinet members should comprise those hailing from political parties and professionals with a ratio of 60:40 or 50:50.

Jokowi also said many of the present ministers would remain in their posts in his next cabinet.
