Garuda Indonesia Set to Fly 111,000 Hajj Pilgrims

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Flag carrier Garuda Indonesia and its subsidiaries stated their readiness to fly 111,071 would-be Hajj pilgrims using 14 jets starting Sunday, July 7. Garuda Indonesia CEO Ari Askhara said his company had finished the preparations, including flight timeliness.
“Garuda Indonesia Group and related staffers determine to enhance flight safety, on-time performance (OTP) and service excellence,” said Ari in a statement, Jakarta, Friday, July 5.
He was upbeat the airlines would provide the best performance during their flights for this year’s hajj pilgrimage.

Additionally, Garuda has run the aircraft maintenance, prepared ground handling system and inflight catering, and increased the number of cabin crew from the embarkation areas in order to facilitate communication during services.
In this year's Hajj season, Garuda Indonesia will serve 284 groups of hajj pilgrims from 9 embarkations: Banda Aceh (4,711 pilgrims), Medan (8,641), Padang (7,035), Jakarta (19,650), Solo (34,882), Balikpapan (6,825), Makassar (18,190), and Lombok (4,967).
The departure phase will last from July 7-August 5, while the return phase is slated for August 17-September 15.
